It might also stand in for the future need for us to move towards reuse if the planet is to be saved. Not only that, but the childlike freshness of Anna Frijstein’s combinations subsume the evidence of another threat to how we live on earth: flooding. Many of the fragments were rescued from paintings damaged when her London studio was inundated last year. Frijstein describes it as ‘a practice of learning to let go of that valuable object, dream, memory, ideal, idea and so on’. Consistent with all of the above in her ‘flooded basement’ display is the Dutch artist’s elegantly ramshackle cardboard framing…” - Paul Carey-Kent
